Dates: August 7th (Friday) & August 9th (Sunday)

Format: Pool play + tournament bracket — minimum of 3 games guaranteed
Team Size: 3 players on the court; 4-player roster recommended
Pricing: For early bird pricing, register by July 13 at $140 per team. After July 13, pricing is $160 per team.

How It Works
Divisions
We offer Recreational and Competitive levels within each age group so every player competes at the right level.
- Competitive — Strong players, typically travel-level athletes looking for a high-level tournament experience.
- Recreational — Solid players who want to compete, improve, and have fun.
Registration
- One team representative registers and pays the entry fee for the entire team.
- Teammates request to join the team roster.
- The team representative approves each player to complete the roster.
- Once all roster spots are filled, your team is officially registered and ready to compete.
Day of Event
- Certified referees officiate every game
- Teams should arrive at least 10 minutes before game time
- The tournament typically lasts approximately 3–3.5 hours
- Supervised games and activities available for siblings during the event
Game Format
- Games are played to 21 points or 12 minutes, whichever comes first
- 1 point for shots inside the arc; 2 points beyond the arc
- Clock runs continuously, stopping only during dead balls in the final 2 minutes
- 12-second shot clock enforced in the final 2 minutes
- All games played on half court; the 3-point line serves as the check line
- After every made basket, defense takes possession
- After steals or rebounds, the ball must be cleared beyond the 3-point arc

Frequently Asked Questions
Are 3x3 and 3v3 the same thing?
No. FIBA 3×3 is continuous play — teams clear the ball past the arc immediately after a scored basket, no check needed. 3v3 requires the ball to be checked by a defender at the top of the key after dead balls or made baskets. 3×3 is a fast-paced sprint; 3v3 has structured restarts. How are Competitive vs. Recreational divisions decided, and can a player move up?
You register for the division you feel best fits your team. Competitive is geared toward AAU-caliber players, especially bigger/stronger kids for their age group. Tourney directors will confirm placement with teams before finalizing divisions. Players can also play up into an older division if they’re good enough.
What ages can participate, and how are age groups determined?
Age-based divisions: 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16. Age is determined by the child’s age on the day of the tournament.
Are girls allowed to play?
Yes. Referees call the game the same regardless of gender — girls playing should be comfortable competing against boys regularly.

How much does it cost, and how does payment work?
$140/team Early Bird, $160/team after. The team captain registers and pays in full, then uses DASH (Pro 3:5’s system) to invite teammates so they sign the waiver and get event emails.
How many players should be on a team?
Four is recommended. Three works fine since 12-minute games mean little substitution needed, but a 4th provides insurance against injury and helps with likely back-to-back bracket games.
What should players wear?
Matching team colors. If colors clash or match the opponent’s, the away team wears pinnies (provided by Pro 3:5).
Is there a registration deadline?
No set deadline, but divisions can sell out — a waitlist opens after that.
How many games will my team play?
Minimum of 3: 2 pool play games (seed you), then bracket play. A 3rd loss eliminates you.
What ball size is used?
12U: Women’s Size 6 (28.5″). 13+: Men’s Size 7 (29.5″). Size 7 is allowed for 11-12s if both teams agree.
How does scoring and winning work?
Baskets inside the arc = 1 point, outside = 2 points. First to 21 wins, or whoever’s ahead when the clock expires.
How do fouls work?
Shooting fouls: miss a 1-pt attempt = 1 point awarded; make it = 2 points; miss a 2-pt attempt = 2 points; make it = 3 points. Non-shooting fouls: team enters the bonus at 7 fouls — the 7th awards a point and the ball (to discourage away-from-the-ball fouling). No fouling out, but 2 technicals = ejection. Flagrant fouls award an automatic 2 points and possession, then are reviewed by the ref/admin and could result in expulsion.
How does possession and "checking the ball" work?
First possession is decided by a shoot-for-it free throw (home team picks who shoots); jump balls after that alternate. After any dead ball, a defender must check the ball behind the arc before it’s live. After a change of possession (including airballs), the ball must be taken back behind the line — both feet suggested. Defense can play full defense after a rebound, but can’t steal the ball while offense is taking it back following a made basket. If a team shoots without properly checking/taking the ball back, the basket doesn’t count and possession is retained (or lost on a second violation) — some referee discretion applies by age level.
How does the clock and shot clock work?
12-minute running clock, except the final 2 minutes, which stop on dead balls (clock restarts on the first dribble/pass/shot, not the check). A 12-second shot clock kicks in only in the final 2 minutes, resetting on possession changes or offensive rebounds.
How do substitutions work?
Ideally on dead balls; since those are rare, refs may stop play if there’s no advantage gained. The sub (or a coach) should signal the ref.
Is coaching allowed?
We encourage kids to figure it out themselves, but won’t stop coaches — though coaches are mainly useful for managing substitutions with a 4-player roster.
How does overtime work?
Tied games go to sudden death: a shoot-for-it free throw decides first possession (arrow holder chooses to shoot or let the opponent shoot), then the first basket after a checked ball wins. A shooting foul in OT sends the shooter to the line — game ends if made; if missed, the fouled team keeps the ball and checks it in.
How many timeouts are there?
One 30-second timeout per team per game, including overtime.
How does bracket seeding work, and how many teams per division?
Seeding after pool play is based on record, then tiebreakers in order: head-to-head, point differential, points for, points against, coin flip. Directors may adjust slightly to avoid repeat matchups in round 1. Divisions cap at 12 teams, depending on registration.
Are there court-specific rules at Pro 3:5?
Yes — the sideline closest to the curtain, we will play to the curtain. The 3 point line is tight so we won’t be recognizing the out of bounds sideline near the baseline on either side.
How tightly will refs call the game?
It varies by ref, as in any league. They aim to call it tight enough to prevent frustration but expect players to play through contact.
Is there a cost to watch, and are games streamed/recorded?
Watching in person is free. Games are streamed and recorded via SportsEngine Play (NBC), which typically runs $19.99/month to view, sometimes discounted via promotions.
What awards are given?
Recognition for 1st and 2nd place teams (varies by tournament).
